He tells the truth about the world.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">He says His people should expect wars, rumours of wars, famines, earthquakes, deception, betrayal, persecution, and love growing cold. These things are serious. Jesus does not tell us to ignore them or pretend they do not hurt.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">But He also says they are not the end itself. He calls them the beginning of birth pains.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Birth pains are painful, but they are not meaningless. They point toward something coming. Jesus is teaching us that history is moving toward God’s appointed goal.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">This matters because trouble can make us feel afraid, confused, or overwhelmed. It can seem like the world is falling apart without purpose. But Jesus tells us that the world’s trouble is real, yet it is not outside God’s story.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The birth pangs are not signs to panic. They are prompts to persevere.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">God’s story is still on schedule. The Kingdom has already come in Jesus, and one day it will come in fullness. Until then, His people are called to watch, pray, trust, and remain faithful.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Today, bring the troubles of the world and your own life before Jesus.
