But Jesus told her about living water - the life only He can give.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 18pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Normal water satisfies for a while, but then we become thirsty again. In the same way, many things in life can satisfy us briefly but cannot give lasting peace. We may feel good for a moment, but the deeper thirst remains.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 18pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Jesus says the water He gives becomes “a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” This means real life, peace, and satisfaction come from Him: His words, His love, His death, His resurrection, and His Spirit living in us.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 18pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Jesus is not offering a quick spiritual feeling. He is offering eternal life, both now and forever.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 18pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">To drink from Jesus means to receive from Him. We trust Him, listen to Him, spend time with Him, obey Him, and let His Spirit fill us. We stop looking to lesser things to do what only Jesus can do.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 18pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Today, ask where you have been trying to satisfy your soul apart from Jesus. To drink from Jesus means to receive from Him. We trust Him, listen to Him, spend time with Him, obey Him, and let His Spirit fill us. We stop looking to lesser things to do what only Jesus can do.
