Celebrities may be talented, popular, and well-known, but they are not always good guides for the Christian life.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 18pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Many celebrities are performers. Their public image may not show what they are really like. They can be admired from a distance, but they may not help us live with wisdom, holiness, love, and faith.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 18pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The Christian life needs better role models. They are not perfect people. They are people being shaped by grace. They show us what it looks like to follow Jesus in prayer, worship, relationships, choices, pain, joy, failure, and faithfulness.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 18pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Some saints are known throughout history, like St Patrick, St Francis, St Therese, or Mother Teresa. But many saints are local and ordinary.
