It can make us feel like servants trying to impress a master or students trying not to fail a test.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">But Jesus leads us into relationship. He teaches us to pray as sons and daughters who belong to the Father.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">This does not mean we become casual or careless with God. The prayer still says, “hallowed be Your name.” God is holy, glorious, and worthy of reverence. But His holiness does not push us away. In Jesus, the holy God becomes our Father.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Prayer leads us into intimacy, dependence, and trust. We come to God not because we have performed well enough, but because Jesus has brought us near.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">This kind of prayer reshapes our identity. We are not outsiders trying to earn a place. We are beloved children learning to live in the Father’s love.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">When we pray “Our Father,” we also remember that we are not alone. We are part of a family.
