A body has many parts: hands, feet, eyes, ears, bones, muscles, a heart, and a mind. Each part is different, but each part matters.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 15pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">APEST helps us understand this. The church is not meant to be made up of people who all think the same, act the same, or serve the same way. God gives different strengths and callings so the whole body can be healthy.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 15pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The Apostle helps the body move with purpose and direction. The Prophet helps the body sense what is true and what needs attention. The Evangelist helps the body share good news and welcome others in. The Shepherd helps the body stay connected, cared for, and protected. The Teacher helps the body understand truth and live wisely.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 15pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">If one part is ignored, the whole body feels it. If one gift tries to do everything, the body becomes unbalanced. But when the gifts work together, the church becomes a living picture of Jesus on earth.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 15pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">This means we need one another. Your gift is not just for you. It is given to strengthen others. And other people’s gifts are not a threat to you.
