The Spirit teaches, reminds, guides, comforts, convicts, and empowers. He is not a vague energy or feeling. We may try to follow Jesus by willpower, memory, or discipline only. But Jesus promised the Spirit because He knew we needed God’s help from the inside.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The Spirit reminds us of Jesus’ words. He helps Scripture come alive. He opens our hearts to truth. He shows us where we need comfort and where we need correction. He gives strength when we are weak and courage when we are afraid.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The Spirit is present in ordinary life: in prayer, Scripture, worship, decisions, relationships, repentance, service, and mission.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">He does not draw attention away from Jesus.
