His death and resurrection have defeated the enemy. Yet opposition remains while the world waits for full restoration.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">This creates tension. Jesus is already victorious, but we still live in a contested world. The Kingdom has come, but it has not yet come in fullness.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">That is why we pray, “deliver us from the evil one.”<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">This prayer reminds us that we are not called to be careless. We need watchfulness. We need wisdom. We need prayer. We need the Holy Spirit. We need one another.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">But watchfulness is not the same as fear. Peter tells us to be alert and resist the enemy, standing firm in faith. We do not resist by obsessing over evil. We resist by staying close to Jesus, trusting His truth, and refusing the enemy’s lies.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The enemy may roar, accuse, deceive, or pressure. But Jesus is the risen King.
