Jesus teaches about anger, forgiveness, truthfulness, generosity, prayer, money, worry, judgment, and love for enemies. He is not giving random rules. He is showing us what life under God’s loving reign looks like.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">This can feel challenging. At times, Jesus’ teaching may seem too high for us. But the Sermon on the Mount is not an impossible standard meant to crush us. It is a picture of life formed by the Father’s will through the power of the Holy Spirit.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Jesus does not only teach us what to do. He teaches us who we are becoming.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">God’s will touches ordinary life: our decisions, relationships, habits, time, resources, words, and hidden motives. Nothing is too small to be shaped by the Father’s love.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Today, listen to Jesus as Teacher.
