They forget His commands, chase other gods, ignore justice, and fail to live as the people they were called to be.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">They experience blessing, disobedience, discipline, exile, and return. Yet through it all, God’s covenant love does not fail.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The prophets call Israel back to worship, justice, mercy, and faithfulness. Sometimes their words are comforting. Sometimes they are confronting. But the purpose is always to call God’s people back to Him.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">This part of Israel’s story helps us understand our own discipleship. We also know what it is like to be called by God and still wander. We know what it is like to receive grace and still need correction.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">But God’s faithfulness is greater than our failure. He does not give up on His promises. Even in judgment, He keeps hope alive.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Today, be honest with God. Where have you drifted? Where is He calling you back? His correction is not the end of the story.
