We may trust our own understanding more than God’s wisdom. We may choose comfort over faithfulness. We may reshape God’s will around our desires instead of allowing Him to reshape our desires around His.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">This is why surrender is part of discipleship.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Paul tells us to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice. That means we bring our whole lives to God: our plans, ambitions, fears, habits, relationships, bodies, time, and resources.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Surrender is not passive. It is active trust. We place ourselves in the Father’s hands and say, “Form me. Lead me. Renew my mind. Teach me Your way.”<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">As our minds are renewed, we begin to discern God’s will more clearly. We start to recognise what is good, pleasing, and mature. We become less shaped by fear and more shaped by trust.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">This is not a one-time moment only. It is daily.
