Birth pains are painful, but they are not meaningless. They point toward something coming. Jesus is teaching us that history is moving toward God’s appointed goal.

The now-and-not-yet teaches us patience and hope. We celebrate signs of the Kingdom now, and we wait for its fullness with trust.

The pain of the present is real, but it is not final. Future glory outweighs present hardship. The coming renewal of creation gives us courage to persevere now.
