When Jesus teaches us to pray, “Give us today our daily bread,” He invites us into a life of daily dependence on God.

1.Daily Dependence

God knows that we need food, shelter, strength, friendship, wisdom, peace, and hope. He is not annoyed by our needs. He invites us to bring them to Him.

2.God Our Provider

The people could not store up extra manna to control the future. They had to trust God one day at a time. Each morning, they received enough for that day.

3.Manna for Today

Jesus says, “I am the bread of life.” He does not merely give bread. He is the bread.

4.Bread for Body and Soul

Those who are fed by Jesus are sent to feed others.

5.Fed and Sent to Feed

Anxiety can make us grasp tightly. We may hoard resources, withhold generosity, or believe we must control everything to be safe.

6.Anxiety, Hoarding, and Trust

The early church lived the prayer for daily bread together. They broke bread, shared possessions, cared for the vulnerable, and lived as a family shaped by the generosity of Jesus.
